Hawkesbury Road pedestrian detour
13/1/21
Walking from Westmead Railway Station will look a little different this month.
The closure of the signalised pedestrian crossing over Hawkesbury Road near Darcy Road will require a slight detour until after Australia Day.
Here’s how to get to the Westmead Health Precinct from Westmead Railway Station (also see map on the WSLHD intranet and internet).
-
Head down the ramp as usual and cross Railway Parade at the pedestrian crossing or at the lights near Hawkesbury Road (for those using the stairs to access Ashley Lane, nothing changes).
-
Near the Hawkesbury Road/Railway Parade intersection, follow the signs for Emergency/Main entrance and Children’s Hospital/Research Institute.
-
Walk alongside the fenced Parramatta Light Rail works.
-
Pass the Rouse Hill/Hawkesbury bike route indicator towards Darcy Road, following the hospital signs.
-
Pass the chemist on the corner of Queens Road and Hawkesbury Road.
-
Cross Queens Road, walking around the works site.
-
Cross Hawkesbury Road towards Acacia House.
-
Turn right, following the emergency and hospital signs.
-
Head down Emergency Road to the main entrance of Westmead Hospital or continue along Hawkesbury Road to the Westmead Institute of Medical Research and The Children’s Hospital at Westmead.
Keep updated on the Parramatta Light Rail works website.
