Sydney University looking for interview participants


Jennifer Hardy, Senior Lecturer at Sydney Nursing School, has received an education grant and is looking for a variety of health professionals to engage in a short phone interview. The purpose of the interview is to aid in the development of learning modules. The modules will provide any student from any discipline participating in work-integrated learning within hospitals with an engaging and interactive resource to prepare them for what can often be a daunting and challenging experience.


Interviews will take no more than 15 minutes and can be done in person or via phone. She is looking for:


  • Pharmacists

  • Dieticians

  • Physiotherapists

  • Occupational therapists

  • Speech therapists

  • Pathologists

  • Radiologists

  • Medical researchers

  • Professional hospital staff working in: Maintenance / building/ construction; Catering; As volunteers; Chaplain services; and Transport/ porter / wards person

WSLHD Libraries Christmas arrangements



Auburn Hospital Library
Closing 3.00pm Thursday 19 December
Reopening Monday 30 December
For staffed hours during January please see our website.
Auburn Hospital staff and WSLHD staff who have after-hours access set up will be able to use the Library throughout the closed period.
Westmead Library staff can be contacted for urgent assistance (e.g. with document delivery or search help) when the Auburn library is closed.

Peter Zelas Library Blacktown and Mount Druitt Hospital Library are both:

Although Library staff are taking a break you can still access e-resources 24/7. Contact us if you need help registering for CIAP, Athens and other key e-resources for off-site access.

Loans can be issued or renewed until after the closed period.

Western Sydney Local Health District Clinical Leadership Program 2020


Applications are now open for individuals and multidisciplinary teams of up to four people to join the WSLHD Clinical Leadership Program (CLP). Applicants will have fundamental leadership skills and/or experience; and are leading a team or aspiring to be a leader at the ward/unit/service/division level.


Applications close on 20 January 2020.

You are committed to improving the quality of care, safety, patient experience and optimising team effectiveness.

The CLP aims to enhance the capacity of individuals and multidisciplinary clinical teams in the following areas:

  • Leading sustainable system improvement and patient safety initiatives.

  • Working more effectively in partnership with staff, consumers and families.

  • Growing insight into their own leadership style and its impact on other.

  • Collaborating across boundaries within and outside of the organisation.

  • Building a culture of patient-centred care within an environment that enables work based learning and reflective practice.

The 12-month program explores contemporary leadership and team development, quality improvement, patient safety, change concepts and application of these concepts in the workplace, through workshops, self-directed learning, individual coaching and action learning sets, 360 feedback, individual professional development plans and a work-based clinical improvement project. The program also provides participants with exposure to WSLHD Health Leaders and leadership strategies at all levels of the organisation.

Selection: All applicants must have demonstrated support of their manager to participate in the program.
