Optus mobile coverage will be impacted across Westmead Hospital on Friday 21 February.

Customers will lose their mobile signal from midnight to 6am as Optus cutover works take place along Hawkesbury Road.

There will be no impact to pagers.

An integral part of future-proofing the success of Westmead Health Precinct communication, the works will be the first of several cutovers in coming weeks.

The works are subject to inclement weather. Details will be released if works are rescheduled.

Cancer Clinic carpark works

20/2/20

A minor traffic reconfiguration is being made to the carpark in front of Crown Princess Mary Cancer Clinic until Wednesday 11 March.

Two disabled parking spots will be relocated to within the same parking area to necessitate the works involving the installation of a new boomgate, line marking, kerb finishing and a fenceline extension.

Three new five-minute drop-off parking spots just outside the centre’s main entrance will be assigned to assist visitor convenience and traffic flow during this time.

Please follow signage in place to safely assist all carpark users.

Five new parking spots will be opened within the carpark once the three-week works program is complete.

Second gastroenterology ward works begin (A3c)

20/2/20

Important works have begun to transform A3c into a second gastroenterology ward.

Part of Westmead Redevelopment’s Stage 2 refurbishment program, the works will provide state-of-the-art facilities, 24 new inpatient beds and staff support zones.

The ward will also include new staffroom, meeting room, kitchen and bathrooms.

The planning process has incorporated extensive feedback from staff, including the gastroenterology team and members from general services, infection control, maintenance and orderlies.

The redevelopment project team is also collaborating closely with its partners to minimise impacts to staff, patients and carers during the works.

The team will continue to work with adjacent wards on level 3 and those above and below the construction zone to help control noise and monitor air quality.

Contractors will be active in corridors during early stages of the works program as they use service lifts to transfer materials to the loading docks.

We thank you for your continued patience as we undertake the next steps in the refurbishment program.

Please contact the Westmead Redevelopment team on 1800 990 296 if you have any queries.
