Closure of one lane on Bridge Rd bridge - Cumberland East and West Campus

4/6/20

Utility adjustment works required for the relocation and future proofing of AAPT & Telstra communication services is due to commence the 9th of June 2020. To complete these works temporary traffic control will be required to be implemented along Bridge Rd.bridge.

The road will be restricted to a single lane for several days, where traffic will be managed via temporary traffic control, including temporary boom gates operated by the traffic controllers.

Please note that minor delays to vehicle movements are to be expected. There will be temporary footpath diversions in place to facilitate these works as the footpath along Bridge Rd. bridge will be required to be occupied to facilitate these works. We appreciate your cooperation and patience.

Hawkesbury Road one lane one-way loop

4/6/20

Redevelopment around the Westmead Health Precinct will enter a new phase from 1 June when Hawkesbury Road is reduced to one lane one-way northbound to allow the continuation of major works for the Parramatta Light Rail project.

The works will make Hawkesbury Road – between Darcy Road and Bridge Street – a one-way loop until the end of 2021.

Drivers exiting Westmead Hospital onto Hawkesbury Road will need to turn left before turning right on either Caroline, Jessie or Hainsworth streets and completing the loop on Park Avenue and Railway Parade.

There will be no impact to hospital drop-off at the main entrance where drivers can still choose to enter and exit on Darcy Road.

Safety remains paramount for patients, visitors and staff, therefore traffic controllers and directional signage will be in place to assist with pedestrian or vehicle access.

The work will include some noise, dust and vibration. We apologise for any disruption and appreciate your understanding.

See directional map.

Westmead ED footpath reopened

4/6/20

You can again walk to and from Westmead Hospital via the Emergency Department (ED) road footpath.

The end of successful works near Acacia House has reopened the popular pedestrian route connecting the hospital to Hawkesbury Road’s pedestrian crossing near Queens Road.

Some minor clean-up work still to complete this week will not impact access.

The Hawkesbury Road Widening (HRW) works are part of the continuation of the Parramatta Light Rail project.

Stage 1 of Parramatta Light Rail, expected to open in 2023, will connect Westmead to Carlingford via the Parramatta CBD and Camellia.

Keep up-to-date with Parramatta Light Rail\'s weekly works updates here.
