Order of Australia nominations

The Order of Australia recognises Australians who have demonstrated outstanding service or exceptional achievement.

Anyone can nominate a member of the community for an award in the Order of Australia. Nominations can be submitted at any time during the year.

Nominating someone is a chance to recognise a peer for their hard-work, service and dedication.

Key criteria:

  • demonstrated achievement at a high level

  • made a contribution over and above what might be reasonably expected through paid employment; or

  • whose voluntary contribution to the community stands out from others who may have also made a valuable contribution.

Successful nominees are published twice a year: Australia Day and The Queen’s Birthday.

To find out more about how to nominate see the Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia webpage.

FAQs are also available.
