Your blood donation is needed

27/8/20

Australian Red Cross Lifeblood needs 10,383 additional people to give blood and plasma over the next two weeks to prevent a potential shortage in blood and plasma stocks.

Appointment numbers are down and all blood and plasma types are needed to make sure stocks remain at a healthy level.

Looking ahead, we can see a drop in appointment numbers over the coming weeks – that’s why we’re asking new and existing donors to step up and fill those 10,000 appointments to ensure there is a sufficient supply of blood and plasma.

Lifeblood donor centres are safe to visit, with strict social distancing, cleaning and donor eligibility measures in place. Only healthy people are eligible to give blood and we have introduced even more stringent wellness checks prior to appointments, including temperature checking.

To make an appointment to give blood or plasma, visit www.lifeblood.com.au, call 13 14 95 or download the Donate Blood app.

Thank you for your support.

Share the Dignity collection points

27/8/20

Many women in Australia regularly have to make a decision about buying a sanitary/continence product or buying food. Share the Dignity is a charity that believes having access to sanitary/incontinence products is a basic right for all women. They distribute pads, tampons & incontinence products for free to homeless women, women living in poverty, and in shelters who have fled domestic violence.

To help all you need to do is buy an extra box of whichever product is having the best special when you are doing the weekly shop and leave it in the pink bins.

Sanitary & Incontinence products collection points include:

Storr Liver Centre, Westmead Hospital, level 2, 2nd corridor on the right past the AB lifts
Auburn Hospital, Level 5 near the library

Donations can be made until the end of August.
