Nominate your colleague for the Order of Australia

Do you know someone whose hard work and contribution to the society goes above and beyond? Nominate your colleague for the Order of Australia!

The Order of Australia is the highest recognition for outstanding achievements and service in Australia. This prestigious award recognises Australians who have demonstrated outstanding service or exceptional achievement. Anyone can nominate a member of the community for this.

Nominating someone is a chance to show appreciation of their hard-work, service and dedication. It is an opportunity to celebrate those inspiring people who make our nation what it is.

The Council meets twice a year, usually in February and August, to consider whether each nominee in the Order of Australia has:

  • demonstrated achievement at a high level

  • made a contribution over and above what might be reasonably expected through paid employment, or

  • made a voluntary contribution to the community which stands out from other volunteers.

Nominations are generally processed in order of receipt and the nomination process can take between 18 months and two years.

All nominations are confidential and the person being nominated should not be advised of the nomination or approached for information.   The information on the nomination form is used only to assist the Council to assess the nominee.
